I selected this name because there is no other colour
which represents natural dyes so beautifully as Neel=indigo.
We have two divisions: DAMASK

synthetic(internationally permitted dyes ) dyed products.
We offer a rich range of silk

Treasures of the Nanhai-Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia
Organized
by the Department of
Museums and Antiquity and
The Malaysian Maritime
Archeology team.
Artifacts
from shipwrecks are on display at the Malaysian Maritime Archeology Exhibition
in the Museum Negara and in Museums around the world, notably the Victoria And
Albert Museum, London Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, Pacific Asia Museum, Los
Angeles and The Shanghai Museum.Heritage night and dinner auction were held on 1st
September at KLCC-KUALA
LUMPUR CONVENTION CENTRE. This was an exclusive night with sights and
sounds of the bygone era- of the time when the city state of Melaka flourished
as the most important trading hub on Asia’s maritime silk route.
Kamal deep Kaur was
invited to represent India and the traditional Indian textile heritage. Indian
textiles were the most importantcurrency in those times; it is in exchange for
this that the Portuguese and the British could get spices and other trade
commodities. A traditional Melaka market was recreated in the exhibition hall to
exhibit and sell these.

Itill today
“DAMASK –an effort”
was inaugurated. Under this label I started catering to the demands of various
stores in Gujarat and Delhi. The product range initially comprised of cotton
dupattas (shawls), yardages in cotton, cotton Kurtas, gents shirts, soft
furnishings .Later on cottons and wool products were limited to orders and the
work shifted 80% to silk .The surface ornamentation was purely
handcrafted–stitch resist, bandhani, block prints, etc. The colours used are
purely classics and/or westerns to suit today’s design conscious out going
women’s needs.
Today Damask is selling through design stores and international markets around
the world . | |
